Founded in 2003
ciasargantana creates contemporary performance as a space of shared experience. We work with body, space and technology to explore new forms of presence, relation and narrative, placing the audience at the center and understanding performance as a place to inhabit the world.
ciasargantana is a contemporary performing arts company with more than twenty years of experience. Our work emerges from research and from the dialogue between live arts and digital technologies, with the aim of creating performative, immersive and participatory experiences that activate collective reflection.
Research is the core axis of all our creations. We investigate both artistic methodologies and the political, social and cultural questions that shape our time. This ongoing process gives rise to stage works, installations, immersive experiences and hybrid formats that push beyond the traditional boundaries of theatre.
Our work has been developed in theatrical and non-theatrical contexts, in collaboration with institutions, festivals and international networks, exploring new forms of relationship between creators, audiences and environments.
Currently, the activity of ciasargantana is based at Lanau7, an art and technology laboratory located in Ripoll. From this space we develop projects of research, creation, production and community-based action, fostering collaboration between artists, technologists and the local community.
The foundation of our work is a continuous practice under the direction of Jordi Pérez i Soldevila, creator, dramaturg and performer. Between 2009 and 2018 we developed the iam system (impulse–action–movement), a system of interpretation and dramaturgy that continues to shape our creative, educational and social processes.
At ciasargantana, art is not a means but the core of our work. Poetics and artistic rigor are essential in all our creations, including those developed in social, community or technological contexts. Technology is integrated as part of the scenic language when necessary, always in service of the artistic experience and the relationship with the audience. We work through practice and research, understanding performance as a living space where form, presence and thought are constructed together.
