  • Pol (o les campanes)

Guess the riddle, a cat, seven lives, and a fish, with golden flakes. A room for both. A closed window: a dumb bell. The cat play with the fish. The fish, play with the cat. Every day, the cat walks by and the ticking of the bell rings throughout the room. And every day, the cat is back with the sharpest nails. The cat plays with the fish. The fish, play with the cat. One day, suddenly, the cat comes in hasty and he shows his teeth, and the fish jumps inside the cat’s mouth. Who will die?

    fractal project

Fractal is an artistic and technological training and research project developed by ciasargantana, aimed at young people aged 16 to 29 who are in situations of vulnerability or at risk of social exclusion. The project shares the knowledge and tools developed by the company in the field of technology applied to the performing arts, through a critical, creative and empowerment-oriented approach.

Fractal combines technical training, artistic practice and collective work, providing participants with tools to understand, manage and create live performative devices: audiovisual systems, interaction, digital environments and technological processes applied to contemporary creation.

Beyond technical learning, Fractal focuses on building confidence, critical thinking and autonomy, facilitating access to professional skills within the cultural and creative fields. The project places technology at the service of expression and agency, rather than treating it as an end in itself.

Fractal has been developed through several editions in Barcelona and Manresa and remains active, adapting to different contexts and territories. The research and training are led by Jordi Pérez i Soldevila, and the project has been developed in collaboration with Barcelona Activa.

  • Silent

    Silent

An immersive and interactive experience that explores the human relationship with silence.

Silent is a performative work that investigates how our relationship with silence changes throughout life. From birth to death, silence takes on multiple forms: comfort, absence, refuge, tension, solitude, or impossibility.

The piece proposes a journey through an ethereal universe where image is no longer central and silence becomes the core performative material. The experience unfolds within an immersive 360º video and 360º sound environment that surrounds the body and responds to the presence and actions of the audience. In a space that continuously transforms through interaction, the scenes emerge from the participants’ degree of listening, presence and stillness.

Each presentation is unique and unrepeatable. The actions of the audience shape the sonic and spatial universe of the experience, generating individual and collective dynamics that determine the development of each sequence. At times, individual desires transform the experience of the group; at others, collective decisions prevail—much like in life itself.

In an environment where sound and image envelop the body, Silent poses an open question: are we able to inhabit silence and stillness?

  • Stan&Owsky

    Stan&Owsky

Two founders of a theatre company are alone in a secluded theater with nothing else to do but wait for someone to arrive and begin the performance. But frost and soon snow are making this possibility even more unlikely. It is within this atmosphere of solitude and tension that all the demons of Stan and Owsky’s relationship with each other and with the theater world are awakened.

Frustration, envy, vital needs, fears, in short, the corrosion of a long theatrical relationship will come to the surface with the energy of years of containment.

Performance and technology in research, creation and collaborative projects

We develop scenic, cultural and hybrid projects that integrate technology as an essential part of the artistic language. Our practice is situated at the intersection of body, space, performance and technology, creating contemporary experiences that transform the relationship between the work, the performer, the audience and the environment.

We develop both our own creations and commissioned projects, collaborating with institutions, festivals, museums, research centres and organisations that seek to explore new ways of engaging with their audiences through scene and technology.

We work with advanced technologies —virtual and augmented reality (VR / AR / XR), immersive environments, real-time interactive systems, mapping, holograms, hybrid streaming and geolocation— not as effects or support tools, but as dramaturgical material. Technology is part of the artistic conception from the very beginning of each project and is always deployed in service of the experience.

Our work is rooted in the live arts. The body, presence and attentive listening to the audience guide all the technological solutions we develop. This perspective allows us to create sensitive, adaptable and meaningful scenic devices, capable of generating involvement, participation and a sense of shared experience across different contexts.

    Research_and development areas

    • Performative creations using virtual, augmented and XR environments.
    • Immersive and participatory experiences.
    • Real-time interactive systems for stage and public space.
    • Advanced video mapping and 3D visual environments.
    • Hybrid streaming and connected stages.
    • Site-specific. projects using geolocation.
    • Development of proprietary software and tools for the performing arts.

    How_we work

We accompany projects from artistic conceptualisation through technical development to final implementation, adapting each proposal to its context, space, objectives and audiences.

This activity is developed in constant dialogue with Lanau7, our art and technology laboratory, where research, experimentation and the development of new scenic languages take place before becoming fully realised projects.

  • pedagogia english

    pedagogia english

At ciasargantana, training is understood as a continuous practice, closely connected to the body, lived experience and the present moment. We do not approach workshops as closed spaces for the transmission of knowledge, but as places of training, listening and experimentation that nourish artistic creation, research and work with communities.

Our training processes emerge from real performative practice and adapt to each group and context. The core of the work is always the relationship between body, action, space and presence, understood as the basis for creation, communication and encounter with others.

    Lines of practice

Training practices can take the form of regular training sessions, intensive workshops or accompaniment of creative and community-based processes, depending on the needs of each context.

    iam system · performative practice

Training sessions and workshops focused on the development of performative presence through action. The work places the body in direct relation to space, time and material, offering tools to inhabit the stage with attention, availability and responsiveness.

This practice accompanies processes of creation, rehearsal and performance, and is particularly relevant for performers and creators who understand performance as a living space of relationship with the audience.

    iam social · community-based practice

An adaptation of performative practice to social and community contexts. Through this line of work, tools related to body, presence and expression are shared so that individuals and groups can activate their own creative processes.

The work focuses on listening, respect for individual and collective rhythms, and the construction of a safe space from which to express oneself. This practice nourishes the company’s community-based creation projects, especially Breus.

Performance and technology · hybrid practice

A line of practice focused on the relationship between body, performance and technology. The work explores how technological systems can become part of the performative dispositif without replacing presence, but rather amplifying it.

This practice adapts to specific creative processes and always begins from performative necessity, not from technology as an end in itself. It is in dialogue with the research developed at Lanau7 and with projects such as Fractal.

    International work sessions

    Trans-: «across», «beyond», «through»
    + Borders

Transborders is ciasargantana’s international laboratory programme, a space for shared research with creators from around the world that explores the boundaries—physical, cultural, political and perceptual—of contemporary performative practice.

It emerged after the closure of La Cuina as a natural continuation of the company’s research work, with the intention of opening the process to external perspectives and diverse contexts. Transborders is not a closed project, but a flexible framework for encounter, experimentation and dialogue.

The laboratories begin from questions rooted in the present: how we inhabit the world today, how identities are constructed, which borders shape the ways we relate to one another, and how performance can generate spaces for shared thinking and experience.

The working sessions are based on practice, exchange and applied research. They do not aim for immediate final outcomes, but rather seek to activate processes, languages and methodologies that can nourish future creations, collaborations and lines of research.

The work developed within Transborders is in dialogue with the iam system, with the dramaturgy of action, and with the relationship between body, space, time and audience. It also opens the field to hybrid practices, performative technologies and modes of transmission that allow for a rethinking of creation within a global context.

Transborders is an open space for artists, researchers and institutions interested in sharing research processes, activating new collaborations and exploring forms of creation that cross disciplines, territories and perspectives.
